Mustard-seeds supports the "
No Child Left Inside" act, that was introduced to congress on earth day 2009 and

is still pending. The goal is to have governmental support for more outdoor learning programs. So many of our kids today are inside glued to some sort of electronics, although we believe some is good, we also believe more outside is better. A study by the Kaiser family foundation showed that children 8-18 years old spend 7+ hours a day with electronics which can lead to some serious childhood problems.
We believe that sensory integration is important for everyone, so we are in the process of creating a sensory oasis for the children in our program - a place that wakes all of the senses with exploration and learning.
Our sensory garden is more like a sensory path, that leads you through fragrant flowers and plants on different paths covered with cedar chips, then maybe sand and pea gravel next with spots to sit and absorb all along the way...a small trek through a watery stream and over a wooden bridge, to a koi pong with a small waterfall and

nesting birds, while touching, hearing, smelling and even tasting some of the surroundings like apples or grapes and strawberries to name a few. There is a small opening in the center of the garden lush with wildflowers, butterflies and a rope swing.
The sensory garden is an oasis for all to enjoy, parents can come meditate during scheduled times as well as have a picnic with their child if they want to.
We hope that our efforts will be as loved as we love our children and all that God has provided for every one of us to enjoy.
